Fruit Cake

  • 12 oz self raising flour
  • 4 ozs butter
  • 1lb mixed fruit
  • 1 lb sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • ½ pint of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp of treacle
  • 2 oz chopped mixed nuts
  • Melt together the butter, treacle and milk.  
  • Place all the ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly. 
  • Divide the mixture into 2 loaf tins and cook at 160 degrees for about 40-45 minutes. Alternatively, place the mixture in one large tin and leave to cook for longer
  • Serve spread with butter and a slice of cheddar cheese.
